Transportation in Athens

To get around Athens, Greece, you have several options. If you're staying in the city center, you can easily walk to most top sites, making public transportation unnecessary. However, if you need to use public transport, Athens has buses, a metro, and a tram, which are all connected and relatively easy to navigate. The metro system is particularly convenient, with a direct line from the airport to the city center, and it's also a good option for reaching the Port of Piraeus and boarding a ferry to the Greek islands. Taxis are also available and relatively inexpensive, but be aware that they can be more expensive than public transportation. If you're traveling in a group, taxis may be the most convenient option. Additionally, you can consider car rental for some day trips, especially if you're short on time or based in a neighborhood with poor public transportation connections.
